Parliamentary General Election Results 2005

Sunderland City Council made history after declaring first, second and third in the Parliamentary General Elections in 2005.

Sunderland South was declared 42mins and 46 seconds after the polling stations closed. Sunderland North was second at 1hr 22minutes and 54 seconds and Houghton and Washington East took the third spot declaring after 1 hour and 32minutes. Only one other declaration was made before midnight across the whole country and that was over 20 minutes after Houghton and Washington East had declared!
