The main offices of the City Council and the venue for all Council meetings is the Civic Centre, Sunderland.  

If you are travelling to the Civic Centre by bus or Metro, the Park Lane Interchange is the nearest station.

Directions 

From: North 

Route: Tyne Tunnel/A19 

Depart Tyne Tunnel and follow A1 9 Sunderland for approx. 4 miles. Take A1231 Sunderland/Gateshead exit and turn left at the roundabout (A1231 Sunderland). Follow A1231 City Centre signposting, crossing the river, for approx. 4 miles. Then follow the signs for Teesside (A19) and at the 4th set of traffic signals turn left, signposted Civic Centre. The Civic Centre is on the left-hand side.  

From: Newcastle Airport 

Route A69/A 1 

Depart Newcastle Airport on A696 for 1 mile then join A1 /A69 (South) for approx. 6 miles (past Metrocentre). Take first Sunderland exit, turn right at the roundabout and join A1231 to Sunderland, crossing over A19. Follow A1231 City Centre signposting, crossing the river, for approx. 4 miles. Then follow the signs for Teesside (A19) and at the 4th set of traffic signals turn left, signposted Civic Centre. The Civic Centre is on the left-hand side.  

From: South 

From: Durham 

Route: A690 

Route: A1 or A19/A690 

Join A690 Sunderland and follow the signs for City Centre A690. Take 3rd exit at the signalised roundabout, signposted Teesside (A19) and at the 4th set of traffic signals turn left, signposted Civic Centre. The Civic Centre is on the left-hand side.
