Action Team, Sunderland

The Action Team has attempted to maximize its impact by identifying a single geographical area within the Sunderland Local Authority District on which to focus Action Team activity. The target area consists of four electoral wards: Castletown, Colliery, Southwick and Town End Farm.

Learning and Skills Council- Tyne and Wear

The Learning and Skills Council uses its 47 local arms to meet local learning and training needs for everyone over the age of 16 not at university. In particular, local offices are responsible for matching learning opportunities to the needs of local employers.

Each local Council will have the resources and local flexibility to work with local representatives from employers, learning providers and community groups, to identify skills shortages and implement training and education to address them.

Sun1419 is an ideal way to learn about the opportunities for our young people in Sunderland.

Sun1419 is an innovative website, developed in Sunderland for the young people of Sunderland. It provides information about subjects, courses, qualifications, where to learn, how to get advice, jobs and related work, as
well as details about the Educational Maintenance Allowance.

Sun1419 also presents a selection of Learner Profiles about young people in Sunderland. Each profile reveals reasons why some have chosen apprenticeships, further education courses or employment with training. In
