| Many people think that getting legal
advice is always expensive. However there are a number of ways in which
you may be able to get advice free of charge or at a very low cost.
Free advice from advice agencies and local authority services:
Community and voluntary agencies, citizen's advice bureau and local
authority services offer most of their services free of charge.
Free first interview:
Many organisations, particularly solicitors firms, offer a set period of
free initial advice, often lasting thirty minutes.
Community Legal Service fund:
The CLS fund (formerly known as Legal Aid) can help pay for the legal help
you need. You can get financial support for a wide range of legal matters,
provided you meet certain conditions. You may have to pay a contribution
to your legal costs. To find out whether you may be financially eligible
