The City of Sunderland offers a caring, professional bereavement service via
the Sunderland Crematorium. As part of our commitment to our clients we

which cover the main functions of our service. Our performance against some of

Directions:- Approaching Sunderland from A19, take A183 towards Sunderland (Chester Road).
Continue on A183 for approximately 1 mile until you see the Wavendon Public
House on
the right. Continue on the A183 for approximately 200 yards, the Crematorium entrance is on the left at the top of the incline.
Crematorium Opening Hours :- The crematorium is open to the public as follows:-

Administration :- All administration and funeral arrangements are carried out centrally at the
Cemeteries Office, Civic Centre, Entrance 6.

Crematorium Chapel
The chapel can seat about 70 visitors and can accommodate a further
70 people
standing to the rear of the seating area. In the case of numerously attended
funerals the service can be relayed onto television monitors in the waiting room
adjoining the chapel.

Garden of Remembrance
Areas for the placement of floral tributes
are provided on the Garden close to the crematorium exit.
Hall of Remembrance
The Hall of Remembrance contains the Book of
Remembrance and other Memorials. It is open every day including Bank
Holidays to allow visitors to mark the anniversary of the death of a loved one.
