Sunderland City Council offers a caring, professional bereavement service via the 10 Cemeteries within the City boundaries. As part of our commitment to our clients we have produced Cemetery Service Standards which cover the main functions of our service. Our performance against some of these standards is summarised in our Customer Services Report

Administration  :- All administration and funeral arrangements are carried out centrally at the Cemeteries Office, Civic Centre, Entrance 6.

Genealogical Research:- The Cemeteries Office holds burial records for all of the 10 cemeteries, however these are generally in the form of large books, many of which are in a fragile condition. To assist anyone who may wish to research their family history all of the burial records have been placed on film and are available at the Local Studies Centre at the Central Library, Fawcett Street.
