There are a number of services are available to help you with daily living and to help you
continue living in your own home. These could include:
Home Care Service: We can provide personal care and practical
assistance, for example,
help with getting in and out of bed, dressing and un-dressing, and household
tasks.
Equipment and Help with Alterations to Your Home: We provide
specialists staff called Occupational Therapists who look at how a person's
daily living needs can be met, and how they can help them live as
independently and safely as possible. They can offer advice and
assistance with equipment, wheelchairs and alterations to homes.
Meals at Home: The Meals at Home Service is usually part of a
range of care which helps people to live independently in their own home.
Care Alarm Service: Sunderland City Council provides a phone alarm
system to enable older people, the vulnerable, and people with physical
disabilities and their carers to have independence in their own home.
The system, operated by a phone in the home, provides a reassuring link
with a community care assistant 24 hours a day, every day of the
year. The Care Alarm Service lets anyone who is linked to the alarm
system contact a community care assistant or experienced person immediately
if there is an emergency. This person is trained to assess the
situation and contact a mobile community care assistant or the emergency
services if necessary. For more information contact 0191 528 2485 or e-mail.
