Adult Services and Children's Services
Sunderland City Council Adult Services and Children's Services aims to help support people with HIV/AIDS, including their families or carers. The amount and type of help we can give will depend upon individual needs, but we can provide both information and access to a range of services by working closely with health services and voluntary organisations.
The main areas of work at Sunderland City Council's Adult Services and Children's Services includes:
· Prevention of the spread of HIV
· Provision of information
· Assessment for services
· Support for people living with HIV
· Support for carers
· Training
· Integrating work with other agencies
· Advice and support for Local Authority staff
· Advice and support to the public

Direct Payments allows Adult Services
and Children's Services to make financial support payments (known as Direct
Payments) to people to enable them to organise and purchase their own community care services that they
have been assessed as needing, instead of receiving services we arrange for them.
